The Health Careers program provides training for students who wish to pursue a career in the medical field. Students will become immersed in a rigorous course of study which integrates important concepts in science, math, and skill-based training. This program includes an honors option and will prepare students to obtain a variety of related credentials which include Certified Nursing Assistant, OSHA, Adult, and Infant CPR, First Aid, and AED Fibrillation.
In order to become eligible to take the Rhode Island Department of Health Certified Nursing Assistant exam, students must accumulate a minimum of forty clinical hours in off-site facilities. Our partner sites include West View Nursing Home, Alpine Nursing Home, Woodpecker Hill, St. Elizabeth’s, Coventry Health Center and many more.
Health Careers 4 students can select from Emergency Medical Technician (basic) and/or Certified Pharmacy Technician and earn additional national certifications.
Health Careers students also participate in district vision screenings, the coordination of blood drives at the high school, health and wellness screenings, skin cancer assessments, and much more.
